Ramblin’ Nights is back for a mammoth night & we are psyched to showcase three outstanding acts on the rise presenting their own unique style of blues, soul, alt/country and folk together in the very appropriate setting of The Leadbelly in Newtown.
James Thomson & The Strange Pilgrims have been described as ‘Newcastle’s Soulful Sons’ and once you have seen them you will understand that label.
Thomson has two critically acclaimed albums under his belt and underway with his band ‘The Strange Pilgrims’ to unleashing his third. Together they have found the perfect fusion of his acoustic blues/folk origins to an electric sound that draws on such masters as Bob Dylan, JJ Cale, Taj Mahal and The Rolling Stones.
Sydney’s Sweet Jelly Rolls are two mates, three chords & a shitload of fun, with their own catchy compositions and old time favourites. Matt & Andrew seamlessly blend country & blues with an amped up sound to create one heck of a live show. Their energy is infectious with banjo, guitar & kick drum driven rhythms, crowd participation & thunderous harmonica solos.
The Swamp Fat Jangles sound emanates from the bayou in a secret swamp near Sydney’s South West. Their tales are performed in a raw folk/grunge sound, with poetic harmonizing female vocals atop the rhythms of banjo, guitar bass and drums.
Presented by Mother Hen Touring and Code One Entertainment.
