Wartime Sweethearts is an expressive, textured and experimental pop outfit fronted by Sydney-based singer, loop artist and songwriter Louise Nutting. Her influences stem from the vocally driven and layered music of Björk, The Dirty Projectors, Jeff Buckley and St Vincent.
In the spring of 2016 Nutting released 2nd album So Long Sparta; a mercurial collection of songs written and recorded in her mother’s attic, released by label Art as Catharsis. The album is flush with rippling keyboards and piano, glitchy beats, modern harmonies and melodic lead vocals that occasionally wade into darker and more experimental waters.
"Lush, uplifting and generally gorgeous pop, a touchstone for strong, innovative, and assertive women’s voices in music." - Echoes and Dust
"Her ability to push out a muscular vocal line, draping it in complex lyrics, like they were an afterthought, it’s quite impressive." - 4ZZZ FM
"This is one of those albums that I can wholeheartedly say was a total immersive and thoroughly satisfying listening experience from start to finish." - My Indie Australia
"A beautiful album" Paul Gough, The Inside Sleeve, Radio National
